Mahirta Ita
Mahirta Ita is the head of the Department of Archaeology at Gadjah Mada. She holds a bachelor degree from the same department (1989) and a Masters and doctorate degree from the Australian National University in Archaeology and Palaeoantropology (1997 and 2005). Her recent teaching focuses on the subjects Method of Data Analysis, Ceramology, Archaeology of Southeast Asia, Archaeology of Oceania, Introduction for Conservation of Museum Collection.

Patricia Engel
Patricia Engel is senior researcher at the European Research Centre for Book and Paper Conservation-Restoration affiliated to University for Continuing Education Krems, Austria.
She holds a magister degree (1984, University of Fine Arts Vienna), a doctorate degree (2007, University of Arts, Warsaw) and a post doctoral degree called „habilitation“ (2011, same university) in conservation-restoration of cultural heritage.
From 2000 to 2008 she was an acting professor and founder oft he chair for book and paper conservation-restoration at University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Hildesheim, Germany.
From 1984 until today she works also as a freelance conservator for Libraries, archives, museums and collections in Austria and Germany and taught / teaches Conservation of works of arts in Sri Lanka, Russia, Armenia and several European countries. She was involved in establishing Indonesias first university chair for Conservation-Restoration.
P. Engel was given the Liese Prokop award for her work in the research in conservation and is directory board member on ICCOM - CC as well as vice president of IPH.
Adya Arsita
Adya Arsita is the Public Relation Manager at the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta since 2017. She hold an MA in Cultural Studies from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia (2016).
Before choosing a life path as a lecturer, she was designated as an Assistant Training Manager in Bintan Resort Cakrawala, Riau Archipelago, Indonesia in 2004. While in 2005 she was the HR Admin Assistant at a foreign-owned company for craft and global export based in Indonesia. At this moment she is actively involved in journal managements as an editor for Specta: Journal of Photography. Arts. and Media as well as a copy editor for REKAM journal.
In 2019, she received a research grant from the Directorate of Research and Community Services of Indonesia and later in 2022, along with five colleagues from Photography Department at the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts, they became one of the research grantees for Matching Fund-Kedaireka.
Edial Rusli
Edial Rusli is the Dean of the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta since 2023. He holds a doctorate in photography from the Graduate School of ISI Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2018) and a Magister Seni (M.Sn) in photography at Graduate School of ISI Yogyakarta in 2006.
Edial Rusli was the Vice Dean at the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta in 2020-2023. Apart from being a lecturer, a photographer, and a researcher, during the year of 2002-2010 he was responsible to be a chief editor for two photography magazine in Indonesia, Kabare Djogja and Mande magazine.
At this moment, he is an active member of Indonesia Photography Society, Professional Association of Indonesia Photography, and Association of Amateur Art Photography.
Cakra Marhomi
Cakra Marhomi is a heritage practitioner based in North Kalimantan, Indonesia.
From 2018 to 2023, he worked as a Tourism Analyst in the Department of Tourism of North Kalimantan, and in 2023,
he was promoted as a cultural advocate in the Department of Education and Culture of North Kalimantan.
He graduated from the Department of Archaeology at Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2014 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in archaeology at the University of Reading.
Since 2021, he has been a member of the Team of Cultural Heritage Experts (TACB) of North Kalimantan Province.
Ellis Sekar Ayu
Ellis Sekar Ayu is Librarian Conservator at the Centre for Preservation and Reformatting Library Material, National Library of Indonesia, a position she holds since 2018.
Ellis Sekar Ayu holds a Bachelor of Chemistry Education from Jakarta State University (1998)
She also was Head of conservation team of the ancient manuscripts at Centre for Preservation and Reformatting Library Material, National Library of Indonesia (2024), Chairman of the sub group working on conservation of written works, printed works and binding of library materials at Centre for Preservation and Reformatting Library Material, National Library of Indonesia (2023) and Conservator at Centre for Preservation, National Library of Indonesia (1999 - 2018).
Ellis Sekar Ayu was an invited speaker at the XV IADA Congress in Halle/Leipzig, Germany, on the topic "Approach of Local Wisdom in Preserving the Ancient Manuscripts of Nusantara" (2023), author of Teaching materials module for training "Preservation of Library Materials", National Library Press (2023) and recipient of the Indonesian government "Satyalancana Karya Satya 20 Years" (2021).
Esha Mukherjee
Esha Mukherjee holds a BFA and MFA (2011 and 2013) from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal in Textile Design. She is a practicing artist majorly works with natural dyeing and different textile mediums. She is presently a PHD student at the same university and focuses on natural dyeing material.

Maneet Kaur
Maneet Kaur is an independent research scholar, artist and takes guest lectures on textile and heritage craft. Her degrees are affiliated mentioned further. She holds a B.D. in Design from Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Guru Nanak University (2002), an M.F.A. Design, Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharti University, Santiniketan (2004)
and a Ph.D. degree as a Non-net fellowship for Ph.D student to Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati (2013).

Citra Aryandari
Citra Aryandari has been a lecturer at the Ethnomusicology Department, Performing Arts Faculty, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, since 2006. She holds a doctorate in Performing and Arts Studies (2012) from Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta Indonesia.

Alva Guzzini
Alva Guzzini is currently studying book and paper conservation at the University of Amsterdam. She obtained a Bachelor in Arts and Aesthetics from Bard College Berlin (2021). She then interned as a paintings conservator under Katharina Martinelli (Roeck Restaurierung 2021-2022)
and later as a poster conservator under Christin Frishmuth (2022). She then started her Master's degree in Book and Paper conservation at the University of Amsterdam (2022-2024). The research for her Master's thesis forms the basis of this contribution.
During her academic exchange in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), she was part of the curating and organizing team behind the exhibition Feminalle (2019) and is now also the art editor of an independently published feminist zine titled Rage.
Cristina Duran Casablancas
Cristina Duran Casablancas works as a book and paper conservator at the Amsterdam City Archives (since 2003), and lecturer in the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage Programme at the University of Amsterdam (since 2020). She graduated in Art History from the University of Barcelona, and in Paper and Book Conservation from Dutch Institute for Cultural Heritage in Amsterdam.
In 2016 she completed a Master of Research in Science and Engineering in Arts Heritage and Archaeology at the Institute for Sustainable Heritage, University College London. In 2022 she received her PhD degree in Heritage Science at the same institute.
The topic of her research is the modelling of preservation management in archival and library collections.
Art Ness Proaño Gaibor
Art Proaño Gaibor is an experienced researcher specializing in Liquid Chromatography (LC), Photodiode Array Detection (PDA), and High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) for the study of organic colorants at the Rijkserfgoedlaboratorium at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (since 2017).
He graduated as a Laboratory Technician from ROC Laboratory School Amsterdam in 2009, after which he held positions as a chemical analyst at the Instituut Collectie Nederland (2009-2013), as a chemical researcher at the Van Gogh Museum (2014-2016) and a Technical Analyst at the Rijksmuseum (2013-2018).
Olivia van Rooijen
Olivia van Rooijen works at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) as a cultural heritage scientist since 2023. She holds a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2017).
She contributed to Project Plastics (2017-2019) and Smelly Plastics (2021-2023).
Tarlen Handayani
Tarlen Handayani is a Documentary Producer, book conservator, and founder of the Collective Learning of Conservation in Indonesia since 2024.
She took a basic bookbinding course at Etsy Lab, Brooklyn, USA (2008), and fundamental courses as a bookbinder at The Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artist Guild, Canada (2018-2019).
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Bandung Islamic University, Indonesia (2001).
Tarlen Handayani was the program manager of Women Archives and Herstory (RUAS Indonesia), Yogyakarta, Indonesia (December 2022 - January 2024).
She was a Co-Producer and researcher for the Documentary film "Dragon Beget Dragon", an acculturation of Chinese and Betawi Community through traditional music Gambang Kromong (2006). She is the founder and literacy community organizer of Tobucil & Klabs, Bandung, Indonesia (2001-2021).
She presented "Culture Beyond Books: Traditional Book Binding from Indonesia".
This program was part of the Year of Culture Qatar and Indonesia, hosted by the Qatar National Library on Nov 20th, 2023. She visited the Conservation and Preservation Department of the Qatar National Library in February 2024, sponsored by the Director General of Culture Ministry of Education and Research Republic of Indonesia.
Gabriele Weichart
Gabriele Weichart is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna.
After completing her doctorate studies at the University of Vienna in 1997, she worked as a researcher and teacher at the University of Heidelberg, Germany (1997-2002)
and as an associated researcher at the Maison Asie-Pacifique in Marseilles, France (2004-2005). Her research interests include the anthropology of material culture, especially vernacular architecture and art, cultural heritage and memory, disaster and social/cultural resilience, as well as food and consumption.
Since 1990, she has conducted extended fieldwork in Indonesia and Australia and has been a visiting researcher and lecturer at various institutions in both countries, most recently at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta (2023) and the Australian National University in Canberra (2022).
She received the UNIVIE International Award 2017 for her achievements in establishing and promoting collaboration with Indonesian universities.
Since 2018, she has coordinated Indonesian language courses at the University of Vienna in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Austria.
Antonia Soriente
Antonia Soriente is involved in a project on the documentation of two Kenyah languages, Uma' Kulit and Oma Lung.
She obtained her BA in Foreign languages with specialization in Indonesian. She moved to Jakarta where she obtained her Master degree in Linguistics at Universitas Indonesia.
In 2003 she completed her PhD program in Linguistics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on the classification of Kenyah languages.
The initial objective of drawing a linguistic map of a district along the Bahau River, tributary of the Kayan River, in Kalimantan, Indonesia developed into the classification of all the Kenyah variants spread in the area between East Kalimantan and Sarawak.
Her main research topics are documentation and description of Kenyah and other Borneo languages, historical linguistics and language contact.
Her other interests are applied linguistics as related to teaching Indonesian language and child language acquisition and bilingualism.

Claudia Römer
Claudia Römer was an Associate Professor of Turcology at the Oriental Institute of the Vienna University. She retired in 2021.
She holds a "Habilitation" in Turcology from Vienna University, Vienna, Austria (1992).
Most important earlier work positions Claudia Römer had scholarships for editing 16th-century Ottoman Documents from the Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv in Vienna (HHStA) from 1979-1984. She was an assistant professor at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the University of Vienna (1985-1992).

Daniela Polli
Daniela Poli is a conservator of Cultural Heritage. She graduated in 2021 at the University of Turin, (in collaboration with the Centro Conservazione e Restauro (CCR) "La Venaria Reale" - Turin, Italy), specializing in textile and leather artifacts, with experience in the field of ethnographic objects. She currently works as a goldsmith for a company supplying a renowned fashion brand, in Turin, Italy.
In 2016 she co-authored the paper "Problematiche di pulitura di un velo omerale terremotato", presented at the XIV National IGIIC Conference "Lo stato dell’arte 14", also published in the postprints.
Her studies were complemented by internships at prominent conservation laboratories in Italy and abroad, such as the one in the Quirinale Palace in Rome (2018), Open Care s.r.l. in Milan (2019), and the postgraduate experience at the Stichting Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2022).
Federica Moretti
Federica Moretti: is a freelance conservator trained at the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione
e il Restauro in Rome. Since 2006 she has created her own company (A.R.CON. Federica Moretti), which has been continuously active in the field of conservation of works of art in Italy and abroad.
She has always collaborated with the ISCR high school in Rome and with the Centro Conservazione e Restauro (CCR) "La Venaria Reale" (Turin, Italy), performing for both institutions direct conservation treatments, research, teaching and foreign missions. Over the years she has developed expertise and experience in the conservation of leather artefacts; in this particular field she carried out significant and complex works for the Vatican Museums, the Egyptian Museum of Turin and the German Research Institute Max-Planck-Gesellschaft.

Enrico Prenesti is an Associate Professor of Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry at the University of Turin, Dipartimento Interateneo di Scienze, progetto e politiche del territorio (Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning);

Anna Piccirillo
Anna Piccirillo is the coordinator of the scientific laboratories of the Centro Conservazione e Restauro (CCR) "La Venaria Reale" (Turin, Italy) since 2022.
PhD in Chemical Sciences, in 2004, and graduated in Chemistry, in 2001, at the University of Turin (Italy), she has been working as a Heritage Scientist in the scientific laboratories of the CCR since 2014 and her main activity is focused on the characterization of the works of art’s materials.
Cecilia Pennacini
Cecilia Pennacini is full professor of Cultural Anthropology at the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin since 2018. She holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Turin (1996) and since 2017 she is the scientific director of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the same University.
Between 2017 and 2019 she has been the President of the Centro Piemontese di Studi Africani and since 2023 she is the President of Archivio Nazionale Cinematografico della Resistenza.
In 2020 she received the "Giorgio Maria Sangiorgi" award for the History and Ethnology of Africa of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and since 2023 she is corresponding member of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino.
Gianluigi Mangiapane
Gianluigi Mangiapane is curator at the Museum System of the University of Turin.
He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the Université de la Méditerranée of Marseille (France, 2011), and a MA in museology from Ferrara University (Italy, 2005).
Gianluigi Mangiapane was research fellow at Department of Philosophy and Education Science, University of Turin (2017-2023);

Erika Grasso
Erika Grasso is a curator at the University of Turin Museum System. She holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Turin (2017).
She conducted research in Northern Kenya (Marsabit County) where she inquired on urban space, pastoralism and ethnic conflicts, as well as curating the creation of the Marsabit Catholic Mission Historical Archive.
She was a research fellow at the Department of Culture, Politics and Society of the University of Turin and a member of the scientific committee of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the University of Turin.
Leni Sudiarti
Leni Sudiarti is the team leader of conservation for printed collections in National Library of Indonesia since 2024.
She holds a master degree (graduate) in Public Administration from Politeknik Lembaga Administrasi Negara (LAN) Jakarta (2023) and bachelor degree in Chemistry from Andalas University, Padang (West Sumatera), (2001).
Leni Sudiarti is the conservator of The National Library of Indonesia from 2006 - now.
She is also as the librarian of Preservation Unit of The National Library of Indonesia from 2019 - now.
She was the contingent of National Library of Indonesia at 2nd International Library Summit, Sharjah, UEA, 2022. She was the team leader of Palm Leaf Manuscripts Conservation (2020-2023) of
National Library of Indonesia and also as the conservator for book collections of Bung Karno's house of exile in Bengkulu, 2019.
Prima Dona Hapsari
Prima Dona Hapsari is currently the Head of Art Conservation Study Program, Faculty of Visual Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta.
She holds a Master degree in English Studies from Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta (2006). She has been working as a permanent lecturer of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesian Institute of Arts of Yogyakarta),
known as ISI Yogyakarta since December 2010. Besides being an active lecturer, she is also active in doing the scientific research and publication on cultural studies, language and art studies, art conservation, and anthropology since 2015. Prima Dona Hapsari participated in some joint programs with some overseas partners and training programs for art conservation. In 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023, she took part on ASEA-UNINET OEAD Joint-Research Program and Training of Art Conservation; she took part in Fellowship Program in Leibniz Zentrum Morderner Orient, Berlin, Jermany in January-February 2022; and in June-July 2022,
she participated in Fellowship Program of 17th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies ARI, National University of Singapore.
Kartika Affandi
Kartika Affandi was born in Batavia, Dutch East Indies (present-day Jakarta, Indonesia) in 1934, the only child of artists Affandi and Maryati. Kartika in 1952 married R.M. Saptohoedojo, a painter. She has eight children. Kartika's relationship with her husband was strained by his polygamy and also his stinginess with the paint they shared, and they divorced in 1972.
In 1985, she married Austrian Gerhard Koberl, a yoga and meditation teacher. They separated in 1994 and divorced in 2001.
From the age of seven, Kartika was instructed by Affandi in how to paint with fingers and tubes directly on the canvas.
Any mixing of colours is done on her hands and wrists. Kartika has no permanent studio; like Affandi, she prefers to paint outside in the village environment where she interacts directly with her subjects and on-lookers.
Kartika studied conservation in Vienna and Rome (ICCROM) in the early 1980s.
In 2014 Kartika asked her former co-students in Vienna for assistant in the conservation of Affandis work.
From 2015 on P. Engel came to help each year. In 2016 Kartika made P. Engel acquainted with the staff of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta and the creation of the first university chair of conservation in Indonesia
started in joint projects supported by ASEA Uninet from 2016 on.
